NEW PRODUCT REPORT
QUANTEL MEDICAL OPTIMIS FUSION
1 With the Optimis Fusion integrated laser platform, Quantel Medical combined advanced SLT photoregeneration therapy and traditional YAG photodisruption treatments to treat both cataracts and glaucoma. The SLT therapy targets melanin-rich cells that absorb the laser energy to induce a healing response, improving the function of the trabecular meshwork. The two-point aiming beam of the YAG mode allows for accurate targeting of the capsule, and an adjustable anterior and posterior offset feature allows for focus alteration, according to the company.

I-OPTICS CASSINI CORNEAL ANALYSIS
Updated functionality for i-Optics’ Cassini Corneal Analysis’ allows both anterior and posterior astigmatism measurements, potential factors in unexpected postoperative outcomes. This gives surgeons a total corneal astigmatism measurement to select the proper power and position of toric IOLs and plan for arcuate and limbal relaxing incisions. The multi-colored LED point-to-point ray tracing provides a GPS-like analysis of the cornea and high-resolution images to help guide surgery.

NIDEK AL-SCAN OPTICAL BIOMETER
2 The AL-Scan Optical Biometer from Nidek provides six values for cataract surgery in 10 seconds: axial length, corneal curvature radius, anterior chamber depth, central corneal thickness, white-to-white distance and pupil size. Its 3D auto-tracking and auto-shot allows for accurate measurements while enhancing patient comfort, the company says. Once the device completes the measurements, it automatically calculates IOL power using the data.
