The ambulatory surgical center (ASC) market valuation has grown to $43.1 billion in 2024, according to a recent report by Markets and Research. Growth of ASCs is fueled by multiple factors, the company reported, including transition from inpatient to outpatient care, tech-driven innovations, and the transformation of hospital outpatient departments (HOPD) into ASC facilities.
According to the report, there are 6,223 Medicare-certified ASCs in the United States. ASC patent volumes have increased by 13% since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, which reflects the crucial role that ASCs play in the delivery of outpatient surgical procedures. The company projects that ASC procedure volumes will grow by 22% over the next decade. Cataract surgery remains the most common ASC procedure. OASC
