Optomed announced the launch of Optomed Lumo, its next-generation handheld fundus camera. According to a company press release, the Lumo was designed with input from physicians and offers intuitive operation with high-quality imaging and AI-enhanced diagnostic platforms, enabling faster decision-making.
Optomed said it is delivering on its mission to enable screening for all by equipping primary care clinics, community health centers, and non-specialist settings with the tools to easily detect early signs of systemic disease.
“By expanding eye screening into primary care, we’re opening up access to millions who might otherwise go undiagnosed,” said Laura Piila, the company’s Vice President of Devices, in the press release. "Optomed Lumo can be used both as a handheld and a desktop form, thus being the choice of any health care setting to become a gateway for systemic health insights."
Optomed Lumo is a MDR Class IIa CE certified medical device. Initial deliveries are expected to begin in Q3 2025 in selected markets, with a broader rollout planned in subsequent quarters, the company said.
