Topcon Healthcare launched the IS-6500, a digital instrument stand, in the United States, Latin American and Canadian markets. The IS-6500 stand incorporates specialized features that can be customized to allow the operator to program well cups and control room lights, reading lamp brightness and BIO brightness directly from the built-in touchscreen panel, the company said in a press release. Users can personalize settings according to their individual preferences and office workflows. Additionally, the stand features a redesigned slit lamp arm mechanism that provides smooth and fluid movement and ensures stability in all positions, allowing for single-handed adjustment.
According to Topcon, its digital technology, electronics and modern design have been integrated into the instrument stand to create a streamlined examination process. The Bluetooth connection between the chair and stand minimizes cable clutter and tripping hazards and provides a safer examination environment — the communication between the IS-6500 and the Ophthalmic Chairs can be established via a low-voltage cable or wirelessly (Topcon chairs only).
In addition, the compact base footprint of the stand is optimized for smaller exam lanes, making it easier for the operator to maneuver around the stand during an exam, the company said. The IS-6500 is also complemented by a wide variety of accessories and options that expand its use, allowing the operator to combine several peripheral instruments, such as a slit lamp and phoropter, with a third arm available for an additional instrument.
