Special AAO Preview Chicago 2016
Come October, come to Chi-town
The annual Academy meeting is so action-packed a printed program couldn’t hold it.
By Wendy Lyons Sunshine, contributing editor
With hundreds of lectures, jam-packed subspecialty sessions and cosponsored events, the 2016 AAO Annual Meeting in Chicago will have something for everyone.
“Over the last six years we’ve seen much growth and development,” says Jonathan B. Rubenstein, MD, secretary for the AAO Annual Meeting. “We have greatly expanded the academic content and created a meeting that is more accessible for the members.”
The event has grown so large, in fact, that this year’s Final Program will not be printed. Instead, attendees will get a spiral-bound condensed program plus access to all event details in a comprehensive Mobile Meeting Guide (www.aao.org/annual-meeting/program).
“This smartphone app has proven to be invaluable to me,” says Dr. Rubenstein. “There is no other ophthalmology meeting in the world that provides the wide breadth of content and the ability to meet and interact with local and international colleagues.”
Douglas D. Koch, MD
Among the changes are a “Learning Lounge” where participants will learn from experts in a small-group setting and a user-friendly Academy Plus Course Pass that helps attendees navigate more efficiently through the meeting content. The exhibition hall with ophthalmic diagnostic and therapeutic technological developments.
Here are some of the learning opportunities (for a full list, see tinyurl.com/AAOLectures16).
