ACCUTOME ACCUSHARP SERIES EXPANSION

1. Adding to its AccuSharp series, Accutome will display its M-Series angled disposable slit knives. The M-Series feature a “teardrop” bevel design and a 2-mm depth indicator. This series comes in a variety of sizes and is suitable for micro-incision cataract procedures, according to Accutome.

BAUSCH + LOMB BLIS REUSABLE INJECTOR SYSTEM

2. To be paired exclusively with the company’s enVista IOL, the new BLIS injector system comes with a reusable handpiece and single-use cartridge. B+L says the BLIS aids in secure implantation to minimize errors and lens damage.

BAUSCH + LOMB ULTRA CONTACT LENS

3. Bausch + Lomb will display the ULTRA contact lens with MoistureSeal technology. The monthly replacement contact lens uses a silicone hydrogel material.

CRYOMATIC MK II

4. This cryosurgery system features a flexible configuration with multiple options. The coupling system allows for either a disposable or reusable probe without a mediating adapter. The unit detects the type of probe in use automatically and adjusts itself accordingly. The device also offers use with either CO₂ or N₂O, and it automatically sets the gas pressure.

KEELER 40H SLIT LAMP

5. Keeler’s latest slit lamp uses Galilean converging binoculars and a rotating five-step drum that offers up to 40-times magnification. A 1-mm square graticule is included within the aperture selections for uveitis assessment. The blue, red-free and neutral density filters are designed to provide visuals of the whole eye at low magnification, according to Keeler. The lamp can be optionally fit with an LED light.

NEXTGEN AMBULATORY EHR AND PRACTICE MANAGEMENT

NextGen will be showcasing two of its software products. Its Ambulatory EHR, which is designed to integrate with the company’s patient portal, aims to help practices achieve upcoming legislative initiatives such as stage 2 Meaningful Use and ICD-10.

The display will also feature NextGen’s full Practice Management software.

NICOX SJÖ

6. Nicox will be showing its Sjö diagnostic test for the early detection of Sjögren’s syndrome in dry eye patients. Since the release of the test, Nicox has partnered with the Sjögren’s Syndrome Foundation to strengthen awareness of this disease in the eye-care community.

NIDEK CEM-530 SPECULAR MICROSCOPE

7. This recently FDA-cleared specular microscope features auto-tracking capabilities to expedite and simplify acquisition of corneal endothelium images. The device captures 16 images, automatically sorts them based on quality, and performs an analysis that allows visualization of the endothelial cells in trace, photo, area and apex modes. The microscope also features 3-D auto tracking, auto shift and a tiltable touch screen and a built-in printer.

PORTABLE OPHTHALMIC IMAGING WITH PICTOR PLUS

8. This handheld imager offers high-resolution images of both the posterior and anterior segments. These images can be captured off-site, for instance, in clinics or in fieldwork. The images can be uploaded to a computer via Wi-Fi and, the company says, are compatible with most imaging software programs. The retinal module provides a 40° field of view of the fundus. The anterior module uses a series of cobalt blue LEDs for fluorescent imaging.

SURGICAL GONIO LENS DESIGN FOR MIGS

9. The TVG Surgical Gonio lens by Volk is designed for maximum ocular control during micro-invasive glaucoma surgery and other gonioscopy procedures. It features a floating lens, stabilization ring and multiple pivot points. It applies no pressure to the cornea. The lens can also be used in the left or right hand. The TVG is compatible with steam sterilization and constructed to withstand repeated sterilization cycles, Volk says.
