Jaeger Eye Lid Plates and Desmarres Eye Lid Retractors
■ Gulden Ophthalmics's new autoclaveable plastic tools aid a wide variety of surgical procedures. The lid plate's translucent material allows physicians to monitor the pupil while the patient is under general anesthesia. The concave shape relieves pressure on the cornea and globe, according to the manufacturer. The lid retractors are available in 10 mm and 12 mm ends or 14 mm and 16 mm ends. Both tools are double ended with different functional sizes on each end.

Pictor Portable Imager
■ Volk recently unveiled a new portable digital imaging device, convenient for those who often do non-ambulatory patient visits, off-site clinics and pediatric exams, as well as those who want a compact imager for in-office use. Offering two modules with each camera, the Pictor's non-mydriatic retinal mode gives a 45-degree field of view of the fundus and can be used with pupils as small as 3mm. The anterior module uses a series of cobalt blue LEDs for fluorescent imaging. High-resolution jpeg images can be uploaded to any computer and is compatible with most major imaging software programs, according to Volk.
