■ Bausch + Lomb has released two new additions to the Storz Ophthalmic line of single-use instrumentation: the 85910ST silicone I/A hand piece for the Stellaris system and the 85910S silicone I/A handpiece for the Millennium.

Both instruments feature a flexible 45-degree silicone tip designed for effective cortical removal, capsule polishing, viscoelastic removal and intraocular lens manipulation in the capsular bag. Recommended for use in a 2.2- to 2.8-mm incision, the smooth irrigation and aspiration ports eliminate sharp edges for reduced risk of capsule rupture.

COX RAPID HEAT STERILIZER

■ The Cox rapid dry-heat sterilizer utilizes dry heat rather than steam and pressure to sterilize. The sterilizer operates at six- and 12-minute cycle times for unwrapped instruments and instruments in pouches. It won't corrode, dull or pit your instruments or cause them to rust, extending the life of every costly instrument.

An integrated USB-type printer output is standard on all units. This will allow users to use either a thumb drive to extract the sterilization data or connect an optional printer.
