LUMERA AND LUMERA T SURGICAL MICROSCOPES
Carl Zeiss Meditec
■ The OPMI Lumera surgical microscopes from Carl Zeiss feature red reflex technology. Users will experience the red reflex in an entirely new way: more contrast, brilliance and stability than ever before, says CZM.
The OPMI Lumera microscope is equipped with Stereo Coaxial Illumination, or SCI, a revolution in illumination quality. SCI provides detail recognition, high-contrast brilliance and stability of the red reflex — even with strongly pigmented, decentered and ametropic eyes. With this technology, users will see the patient's eye in unprecedented detail, according to CZM.
The OPMI Lumera microscope is ideal for both anterior and posterior visualization. In cataract or retinal surgery, the OPMI Lumera microscope enables users to recognize anatomical structures or the retina in greater detail.

THE KHOSLA K-6001
Khosla Medical, Inc.
■ Khosla's K-6001 operating microscope has a Nikon stereo-zoom optical head and 10× eyepiece with a 45° vertical inclination. Its interpupillary distance ranges from 52 mm to 75 mm. It has a working distance of 181 mm and zooming range between 0.8 - 3.5×.
The K-6001 comes with counter-balanced spring arms, which can be rotated to 320° with lock. The microscope also comes with a continuous foot control without steps. The field of view is between 52.5 mm and 12 mm and total magnification range is 4× to 17.5×. It has four caster wheels for easy handling that ensure absolute stability.

THE LOM SERIES
Konan Medical, Inc.
■ The Light Operation Microscope (LOM) series is part of Konan's line of operation microscopes for ophthalmology. The microscopes have a "one-touch clamp," providing an easy locking mechanism. The optics angle can be adjusted by a lever and users can then release the lever to fix the optics in the selected position.
A well-balanced pantograph arm helps in maneuvering the microscope. LOM also features the high-eye point, which allows users wearing glasses to look through the microscope. A built-in beam splitter enables easy upgrades to video-assisted systems.

THE LEICA OPHTHALMOLOGY PORTFOLIO
Leica Microsystems, Inc
■ Leica ophthalmology microscopes feature highly focused direct illumination for crisper images and more consistent illumination throughout the field of view. Unlike fiber optic systems, there is never a degradation of light with direct illumination, says Leica. Leica's premium class M844 surgical microscope features APO OptiChrome optics and 100% illumination and stereopsis for both surgeon and assistant. Leica's mid-range M820 microscope also features APO OptiChrome optics. All Leica microscopes accept the Leica line of Standard and Hi-Definition 720P video cameras.
Both the Leica M844 and M820 feature an integrated video monitor and StepCycle, which allow multiple scope functions to be programmed in with one touch of a button. The M620 is the latest addition to Leica's portfolio and is an economical solution for surgery centers.

OMS-710 & OMS-800 OPERATION MICROSCOPES
Topcon Medical Systems
■ Topcon recently introduced the OMS-710 Operation Microscope, designed specifically for cataract and anterior segment surgery. The OMS-710 features newly designed optics that minimize flare and provide excellent color and contrast, with a superior red reflex, according to the company. A color temperature filter enhances visibility and provides a more natural color tone.
Topcon also offers the OMS-800 Series, including the OMS-800 OFF-ISS with Topcon's Optical Fiber Free Intravitreal Surgery System. This system allows for bimanual vitrectomies and other types of retinal surgeries without the need of handheld fiber-optic illumination.
The OMS-800 features refinements such as a double-focusing mechanism, electromagnetic locks and programmable footswitch. Topcon says the OMS-800 is suitable for all ophthalmic operations.
Additionally, the OMS-800 offers comfort for the surgeon and assistant, plus clear, bright views of the structures of the eye and total control over all mechanical and electronic functions, says the company.
