RSS GP LENS
Blanchard Contact Lens, Inc.
■ The RSS (Refractive Surgery Specific) GP lens is a unique reverse-geometry lens manufactured by Blanchard Contact Lens to meet the needs of your post-refractive surgery patients. The RSS design ensures proper fitting of the unusually flat post-surgical central cornea without excessive vaulting and mid-peripheral alignment to provide good centration and stable vision. The lens is designed with two very distinct curves; the central base curve and the fitting curve.
The flat central base curve serves as a smooth secondary refractive surface and is designed to closely match the central post-surgical curvature of the cornea. The fitting curve acts as support to the central base curve and allows the mid-peripheral portion of the lens to align with the cornea outside the post-surgical (treated) area, ensuring optimum centration.
Diagnostic fitting is recommended with the RSS design. The diagnostic set is a 24-lens set with the fitting curves ranging from 40 D to 45 D in 1 D increments. The fitting curves are available from 39 D to 46 D in 1 D increments and the central base curve is available 1 D to 9.00 D flatter than fitting curve in 1 D increments.
Diameter availability is 9.5 mm to 12 mm in .10 mm increments, with the standard diameter being 10.5 mm.

O2OPTIX CUSTOM
CIBA Vision
■ Challenging-to-fit patients who require unique parameters can often benefit from the most from high oxygen transmissibility, and now eyecare professionals have a healthy and comfortable solution to offer them. O2OPTIX Custom (sifilcon A) is the first made-to-order silicone hydrogel lens from a major manufacturer and CIBA Vision's latest silicone hydrogel innovation. The lenses offer a Dk/t of 117 @ -3 D, and allow up to five times more oxygen through the lens than the leading made-to-order soft contact lenses. O2OPTIX Custom lenses are available in powers from +20 to -20 and for high myopia, high hyperopia, large and small corneas, steep and flat corneas and aphakia.

PROCLEAR MULTIFOCAL TORIC CONTACT LENSES
CooperVision
■ CooperVision's Proclear Multifocal Toric contact lenses are part of the company's comprehensive portfolio of contact lenses designed for presbyopic correction. Now, the growing number of long-time toric lens wearers who are developing presbyopia can continue wearing soft contact lenses in a modality with which they are accustomed.
Proclear Multifocal Toric is available in a monthly modality and features a sphere power range of +20 D to -20 D (0.50 steps after +/- 6.50); cylinder powers of -0.75 D to -5.75 D in 0.50 D steps; round the clock axis in 5 degree steps; and ADD powers of +1 D to +4 D in 0.50 D steps. Proclear Multifocal Toric lenses also feature two base curves of 8.4 and 8.8.
Proclear Multifocal Toric utilizes CooperVision's Balanced Progressive Technology design which maximizes binocular vision at all distances — near, intermediate and far.
Combined with Proclear's patented PC technology, which keeps the lens moist and comfortable all day long, Proclear Multifocal Toric is ideal for the presbyopic patient demographic as they often have a higher incidence of dry eye symptoms.

QUADRANT SPECIFIC TECHNOLOGY
Lens Dynamics
■ Lens Dynamics' Quad Sym design allows practitioners to better match the base curve of this specialty rigid contact lens to the highly irregular anterior surface of keratoconic, pellucid and grafted corneas. The design can make up to four different base curves on the lens.

METRO OPTICS
Signature Series
■ Metro Optics' Signature Series offers a number of specialty GP lens designs. For presbyopes, there is a multifocal design, the Metro Progressive, which has an aspheric base curve, a key design feature providing progressive add from the central distance zone to the lens periphery. Add powers of +2 D are achieved with the standard Metro Progressive. The Enhanced Metro Progressive can provide up to +2.75 D of add.
Metro Optics translating bifocal design, the Metro-Seg, has a unique crescent-shaped add zone that promotes easy translation and visual stability through a high degree of lens rotation. Lens segments share a common optical center and provide smooth image translation.
For patients with keratoconus, pellucid marginal degeneration, post-surgical or other types of irregular corneas, Metro Optics offers the ComfortKone and the RSa/RSb lens designs. The ComfortKone lens design is so effective that it has specific design clearance from the FDA for keratoconic fitting. By creating corneal alignment through a flexible fitting system the ComfortKone provides the patient with high levels of comfort and visual acuity.
Post-surgical fitting can be highly successful with Metro Optics RSa or RSb lens designs. A combination of spherical and aspheric curves creates alignment with the peripheral cornea and a slight vaulting of the surgically altered central cornea. Standard diameters are used for PKP patients and larger diameters are used for post-refractive patients.

I KONE AND KMAX
Valley Contax
■ The I Kone, a GP contact keratoconus lens from Valley Contax and Rob Breece, O.D., features a large 9.6 mm overall diameter to distribute the weight of the lens more evenly across the cornea, beneficial for all stages and categories of keratoconus.
The KMAX lens, a related design, is an even larger diameter, 12 mm overall, is a GP contact lens primarily indicated for advanced keratoconus, pellucid marginal degeneration, corneal transplant and post-surgery patients. KMAX bypasses the effected zone of the central cornea allowing centration and a smooth alignment along the periphery of the cornea.
The Breece System also includes the Comfort XL GP lens, which solves all fitting issues related to GP, soft toric intolerance and 3 and 9 staining.

ACUVUE ADVANCE FOR ASTIGMATISM
Vistakon, a Division of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc.
■ Acuvue Advance Brand Contact Lenses for astigmatism are the most widely prescribed silicone hydrogel toric contact lenses for patients diagnosed with astigmatism, according to Vistakon. Its breakthrough Accelerated Stabilization Design (ASD) harnesses the natural pressures of a blinking eye to balance the lens in place and quickly realign the lens if it rotates out of position, providing patients with astigmatism with consistent, all-day vision and comfort. A recently published study in Optometry and Vision Science showed that lenses using ASD were significantly more stable than Soflens 66 Toric Contact Lenses using a Prism Ballast Design during settling time and in two of four tasks designed to mimic real-world viewing conditions involving saccades.
Hydraclear, Vistakon's brand name for its proprietary technology that combines an oxygen-rich material with a moisture-rich wetting agent, gives the lenses a moist, smooth feel.
