Focus on Pachymetry Devices
PACHPEN
Accutome
The PachPens ergonomic design makes taking measurements quick and easy. The unit has the ability to take nine readings and average them. In addition, the IOP correction calculator converts entered IOP measurements from a tonometer in seconds. Accutome says its Digital Signal Analysis actually examines waveforms and eliminates marginally aligned measurements.

VISANTE
Carl Zeiss Meditec
The Visante OCT system is the first to provide clear, highly detailed anterior segment images including the angle without the need for ocular anesthesia or a water bath, says Carl Zeiss Meditec. Visante OCT high-resolution corneal and anterior segment images support the evaluation of narrow angle and ocular health. Additionally, Visante OCT is the first non-contact device to image, measure and document post-LASIK flap and residual stromal bed thickness.

PACHMATE DGH55
DGH Technology
The DGH 55 Pachmate pachymeter is the fastest and easiest to use, according to DGH technology. Now available in five distinctive colors, the Pachmate is designed for assisting in glaucoma and LASIK screening. The company says the DGH 55 is the only pachymeter in which the probe can be safely folded into the handle for the ultimate in durability.

IOPAC
ADVANCED
Heidelberg Engineering
The IOPac Advanced pachymeters unique, built-in Glaucoma Risk Assessment Calculator enables clinicians to identify higher-risk glaucoma patients. This pocket-sized pachymeter weighs only 7 ounces and uses the six risk factors established in the Ocular Hypertension Treatment Study (OHTS) to estimate degree of glaucoma risk. This device can quickly determine a patients future risk for glaucoma and generates reliable CCT correction of IOP calculations through a choice of five built-in and three customized reference formulas. Users can see precise corneal thickness measurements and assess refractive surgery candidates using the 9-zone refractive map. Users save time with fast patient archiving and printing. Heidelberg Engineerings IOPac is portable and durable.

CC-7000 AND
THE SP-9000
Konan Medical, Inc.
Both Konans CC-7000 and the SP-9000 have a built-in
pachymeter. The device uses an electro-optical method to measure the thickness
of the cornea. The CC-7000 measures the cornea thickness at the same time it
photographs the endothelium. The SP-9000 model has a separate mode for increased
accuracy. Pachymetry measurements are possible in five different quadrants on
the cornea, which can be displayed on the readout.
Konan Medical, Inc. PALMSCAN
P2000 PalmScan P2000 is a true
surgical pachymeter with patient database capabilities that allows quick access
to patient pachymetry results. It has a 17- ocation corneal mapping capability
that becomes highly useful for capturing corneal thickness at non-central
corneal locations. The P2000 device offers the option of a 50 MHz Pachymeter
probe that makes corneal measurements at the limbus a snap. This option is
highly recommended to customers who are interested in the exclusive LRI-Nomogram
features of the PalmScan. Weighing less than 10 ounces and operating on dual
rechargeable batteries, PalmScan easily fits into a pocket. With the highest
sampling frequency of any competing product, PalmScan immersion capable A-scan
and pachymeter devices deliver the highest level of accuracy available on the
market, says the company. Micro Medical Devices, Inc. THE P-55
AND P-2200 PACHYMETERS The P-55 and P-2200
pachymeters are intended to provide the highest level of accuracy, ease of use
and quick corneal measurements, says Paradigm Medical. The new P-2200 is a
compact 3.3-pound design that provides multiple corneal mapping processes for
complete analysis of the entire cornea or specific corneal quadrants. The P-2200
uses a 20 MHz transducer to provide accuracy of 5m with a resolution of 1m
within a measurement scope of 150 200 m and includes a built-in thermal
printer. Paradigms P55 Pachymeter, with a 23 MHz transducer has been
manufactured by Paradigm since 1998 and has a history of proven high-level
accuracy with a resolution of 2.5m. Paradigms P-2500 provides the convenience
of an A- can/pachymeter combination diagnostic device and provides the same
pachymetry specifications as the P-2200. Paradigm Medical Industries POCKET II
PACHYMETER Quantel Medical
introduces the Pocket II, a portable precision pachymeter that fits in a lab
coat pocket and is perfect for glaucoma screening, according to the company.
Users can easily move between exam rooms or satellite offices, because the
Pocket II is powered by 4 AA batteries or AC power. With a measurement range of
200 to 999 m and accuracy of 5m, the Pocket II is designed to measure corneal
thickness in a wide variety of clinical and surgical applications. Recording
from 1 to 10 measurements with automatic averaging and a built-in test block,
this system is predicted to exceed expectations. Pocket II combines ease of use
with one-touch accuracy, precision and reliability.
Quantel Medical OCULAR
RESPONSE ANALYZER The Reichert Ocular
Response Analyzer not only enables the measurement of central corneal thickness,
it also presents a direct measure of corneal biomechanical properties. This new
measurement, called corneal hysteresis, is an indicator of the overall integrity
of the cornea, providing more complete information than thickness alone. The
system is able to present IOPcc, a new measure of IOP that correlates with
Goldmann, but is less affected by corneal properties, such as elasticity,
resistance and thickness. Reichert
PACSCAN The Sonomed PacScan is a
portable, digital pachymeter with intuitive touch-screen operation and automatic
scan capture. The 20 MHz transducer provides excellent accuracy and measurements
as thin as 125 m, says Sonomed. On-board diagnostic system calibration and
probe sensitivity tests are performed automatically to ensure accurate and
repeatable readings. PacScan is available as a stand-alone pachymeter or
combined A-scan/pachymeter. Sonomed, Inc. SP-100
HANDY PACHYMETER The Tomey SP-100 Handy
Pachymeter weighs only 19 ounces and provides highly accurate measurements of
central corneal thickness. The SP-100 offers IOP calculations, built-in printer
and an RS-232C communication port for quick recording and easy data output to
office computers. The built-in rechargeable battery enables wireless operation.
The easy-to-read print out includes patient ID, name and measured date. Tomey EAGLE EYE
3000 Vision Medical Instruments
Eagle Eye 3000 is a user-friendly, precision pachymeter. Its 0.25 m precision
and 1 m repeatability makes it unnecessary to perform any additional
filtering or averaging. It has a built-in printer/computer interface and is
the only pachymeter compatible with OfficeMate Practice Management Software.
Vision says the Eagle Eye 3000 is the only pachymeter that self-calibrates. This
feature provides accurate performance for the life of the unit. Vision Medical
offers a 5-year warranty. Vision Medical Instruments
