Meeting Offers Numerous Courses
This year's joint American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO)/American Academy of Ophthalmic Executives (AAOE) meeting in Las Vegas from Nov. 11-14 will offer attendees a golden opportunity to sharpen their practice management skills. The AAOE has scheduled more than 100 hours of practice management-related instruction, all of which qualify for CME credit.
"The AAOE program will bring best practices from the most experienced practice managers, managing physicians and consultants," says AAOE Executive Director Bob Stein. "Those who join us will find great ideas that will enhance the performance of their practices."
Among the more than 30 courses scheduled are:
► "Coding Camp: A Workshop to Appropriately Maximize Reimbursement"
► "Baby Boomers and Other Factors Destined to Change Your Practice"
► "Finding, Training and Keeping Great Technicians"
► "Medicare Update 2007"
► "Pay for Performance: The Future of Physician Payment"
► "Challenges of Management: An Interactive Problem-Solving Workshop"
► "Strategic Planning for Practice Executives"
► "Ophthalmic Audit Scenarios"
Though many of the courses are primarily geared toward practice administrators, doctors are encouraged to attend the practice management sessions. When a physician and an administrator attend a program together, they will each have an informed idea of how to integrate the new information into the practice.
Those planning to attend practice management sessions should be aware that they can save $10 per course hour of instruction by registering in advance rather than waiting to register until they are at the convention site. Another reason to register in advance is that some courses will be filled before the meeting starts. Those who wait to register may be shut out.
