Focus
on Corneal Topographers
THE
ATLAS SYSTEM
Carl
Zeiss Meditec
The Atlas system features include advanced Arc-Step Algorithm, true elevation data and aspheric surface reconstruction. The system is ideal for primary care, pathology detection, corneal refractive surgery management and contact lens fitting applications, says CZM.
The 22-ring placido cone presents a large limbus-to-limbus field of view and its spacing avoids ring crossover. The patented Cone-of-Focus technology means superior electronic alignment for greater repeatability and accuracy, says CZM. The patient interface positions the patient for wide peripheral coverage and automatically detects OD/OS. The Atlas system also has automatic pupil measurement and USB and Ethernet capabilities to support network data storage and printing.

THE SCOUT TOPOGRAPHER
EyeQuip
The Scout Topographer offers corneal topography, visible light pupillometry and dark-adapted pupillometry all on the same map. In addition, the Scout's corneal wavefront maps clearly display lower-and higher-order aberrations that can be individually removed from the map for better understanding of problems. It is even possible to subtract imported whole eye Zernike wavefront data to map internal aberration.
The Scout is available in three models: portable with battery,
slit-lamp mounted or table-based with
a permanent headrest. The built-in alignment
monitor and patented vertex detector assures a properly centered image at the perfect
position, says EyeQuip.
All software is incorporated, including EyeQuip's exclusive Wave Contact Lens software for custom RGP and soft lenses for the most challenging patients. Data is automatically transferred to a desktop or laptop computer.

3-D WAVE
Marco
The Marco 3-D Wave allows users to obtain refraction, corneal topography, optical path difference and wavefront analysis all with a single device. The 3-D Wave allows doctors to evaluate their patient comprehensively, perform refractive and cataract surgery screenings, evaluate postop complaints and determine pathology diagnoses.
Marco states that in a matter of seconds the 3-D Wave gathers crucial data to help determine the best treatment for patients. The 3-D Wave offers single registration of corneal topography and refraction data, which allows a complete view of the optical system, including a display of internal OPD.

MAGELLAN MAPPER
Nidek
The Magellan Mapper is the first plug and play corneal topographer, says Nidek.
The Magellan Mapper connects via a USB port to any notebook or desktop computer.
Its ergonomic design, bright ring projection and easy alignment reduce examination
time and require minimal patient cooperation. The Magellan Mapper features a unique
small diameter ring projector enhancing ring quality on the cornea and avoiding
artifacts. It also features a streamlined 30-ring projector, dual-edge ring finder
with
60 rings detected, 21,600 data points and a high-resolution camera.
The Mapper has an easy-to-use interface and provides single, multiple and 3-D map displays and axial, tangential, refractive and height algorithms.

OCULAR RESPONSE ANALYZER
Reichert Ophthalmic Instruments
The Ocular Response Analyzer provides the world's first direct measure of corneal biomechanical properties, says Reichert. This new measurement, corneal hysteresis (CH), is an indicator of the overall integrity of the cornea, and provides more complete information than central corneal thickness (CCT), making it useful in diagnosing and managing corneal pathologies and glaucoma, and in pre-screening potential refractive surgery candidates.
Utilizing this new information, the instrument is also able to present IOPcc, a new measure of intraocular pressure that correlates with Goldmann on average, but is less affected by corneal properties, such as elasticity, resistance and thickness.
The Reichert Ocular Response Analyzer eliminates operator variance by utilizing microprocessor-control technology and objective measurement criteria. Fully automatic alignment and measurement provide fast, repeatable results. The instrument also features a built-in ultrasound pachymeter and a comprehensive patient management database.

DIMENSION + WAVE FRONT TOPOGRAPHER
Veatch Instruments
The Dimension + Wave Front Topographer utilizes TAD technology that continuously verifies image focus at least 25 frames per second. This delivers extremely precise and reliable data of the corneal surface. The Dimension calculates corneal wavefront aberrations using the Zernike analysis. The 24 placido rings measure 6,144 data points calculating over 100,000 analyzed points. It can measure upwards of 10 mm across the cornea. While the standard maps and scales are present, the unit also incorporates advanced statistical data that is compared to a normative database of over 1,000 patients. The pupillography feature allows measurement of the pupil in scotopic, mesopic, photopic and dynamic conditions. The ReSeeVit software also allows users to add slit-lamp imaging, retinal imaging and specular microscopes to the topography system.

ALLEGRO TOPOLYZER
WaveLight, Inc.
The Allegro Topolyzer is specifically designed to measure and generate high-resolution data for eyes with severe irregularities. It was developed for the most difficult cases in which standard wavefront measurement would prove clinically ineffective.
With an extraordinarily high resolution of the cornea resulting from 22,000 measuring points and a large placido disk, the Allegro Topolyzer is an accurate tool for the examination of the most complicated vision disorders, says WaveLight.
In addition to producing a refractive map to display the influence of aberrations, the Allegro Topolyzer is fitted with an interactive elevation map, allowing the individual selection of reference body, radius and asphericity.
