AMADEUS II MICROKERATOME WITH SURFACE ABLATION MODULE
AMO, Inc.
The Amadeus II Microkeratome is the first and only microkeratome with completely customizable parameters for both LASIK and surface ablation procedures. Featuring computer-controlled intelligent design, the Amadeus II provides surgeons with the safety and confidence of voice-confirmation of flap parameters and instrument readiness.
The Amadeus II also provides full visualization of the flap and epithelial tissue during LASIK and surface ablation procedures. The on-board computer controls engagement of the microkeratome, maintaining precise tissue parameters throughout the procedure.
To meet the evolving surgical needs associated with surface ablation techniques, the Amadeus II provides the option of maintaining an epi-flap or going epi-free – completely removing the epithelial tissue with accuracy. The advanced and lightweight Amadeus II microkeratome handpiece and power cord minimize pressure on the eye during the procedure and reduce surgeon fatigue and operating field clutter.

ZYOPTIX XP
Bausch & Lomb
The Zyoptix XP microkeratome from Bausch & Lomb provides surgeons with the option of creating a hinge at any point on the corneal flap, either superior or nasal. The surgeon can also move more efficiently from the left to the right eye during bilateral procedures.
In addition, B&L says that the Zyoptix XP offers enhanced precision and flap consistency. The company says the Zyoptix XP cuts with a standard flap deviation significantly less than the published data from many other microkeratomes. Enhancements in blade design and heightened manufacturing tolerances also reduce variability in flap thickness.
The sterilizable motor sleeve reduces the potential for contamination during the procedure. Another advantage is the ease and flexibility of servicing. With the Zyoptix XP microkeratome, all the parts are interchangeable, so replacement or additional parts can be ordered while keeping the microkeratome system in a surgeon's clinic.

K-4000
Becton, Dickinson and Company
Becton, Dickinson's K-4000 microkeratome features self-diagnostic and self-testing features. The K-4000 uses a pre-assembled disposable BD Beaver blade, which is enclosed in a nonmetallic safety blade case. The BD K-4000 is battery operated, allowing the flap creation to be completed during a power loss. The unique heads allow the surgeon to observe the flap being created.
The BD K-4000 has several safety features included; the motor stops if there is a loss of suction, the blade does not oscillate in reverse and will stop if there is a blade failure and the unit has both audible and visual error messages.
The oscillation speed is 12,000 +/-500 rotations per minute with a translation speed of 4.4 mm/sec. The BD K-4000 employs suction ring sizes of 8.5, 9.0, 9.5, 10.0 and 10.5 mm and creates a nasal hinge. The average hinge length is 5 mm; the flap diameter ranges from 8 mm to 11 mm; and heads are available in 80, 130, 160 and 180 microns, as well as an epi-head with an epi-LASIK Separator.

ONE USE-PLUS AND M2
Moria
Moria's One Use-Plus is an automated version of the One Use disposable keratome, a system that has achieved widespread clinical and commercial success during the last 5 years, according to the company. This linear system features a highly advanced new control unit, the Evolution3E; and a light, easy-to-use handpiece. Two separate motors independently drive blade oscillation and head translation to enhance smoothness, power and speed.
Moria states that when set to cut 130-micron flaps, the One Use-Plus has demonstrated outstanding results in clinical trials, producing flaps of an average thickness of 133 μm +12. With a new, disposable blade-head assembly for each patient, the One Use-Plus offers safety, simplicity, convenience and ease-of-use.
Moria's M2 is an automated, pivoting microkeratome that can accommodate a wide range of eye sizes and geometries and is especially useful in treating patients with the smallest palpebral features. Providing a new presterilized head-blade assembly for each patient, the M2 single use eliminates potential complications from improperly sterilized or damaged heads.

ML7
Med-Logics
The ML7 microkeratome exemplifies the same type of accuracy and performance as Med-Logics calibrated LASIK blade (CLB) design, used in other brands of microkeratomes. A variety of CLB options include plano, -10 μm, -20 μm, -30 μm, +10 μm and +20 μm for use in creating a custom flap with the ML7. The ML7 Blade Shuttle installs the CLB directly into the head without being handled by the user.
The small footprint and handpiece design allow the surgeon to locate the hinge in a variety of locations, including temporally. Patient comfort is increased because a lid speculum is not required. The patented vacuum-control system for the ML7 contributes to creating reliable and predictable flaps. According to the company, the quality and accuracy of the ML7 is reflected in the 8 years of experience Med-Logics brings to designing and manufacturing LASIK blades.

CARRIAZO-PENDULAR
Schwind eye-tech-solutions
Schwind's Carriazo-Pendular microkeratome produces predictable and reproducible flap thickness with almost invisible flap edges. The Carriazo-Pendular microkeratome is based on the principle of convex applanation of the cornea during the cut. This results in the cornea being applanated evenly from the beginning of the cut to the end. This ensures that the IOP does not vary to the extent it does with conventional flat-plate applanation. Ergonomically designed, the Carriazo-Pendular microkeratome makes placing the head into the suction ring extremely simple with its drop-and-go mechanism. The spherically molded Carriazo-Pendular system with blade oscillation produces high-quality flaps in any quadrant of the cornea. Four cutting heads (110 μm, 130 μm, 150 μm and 170 μm) are available for different flap-thickness. According to current studies the flaps show a very good predictability of thickness, with an extreme low standard deviation from the mean of almost 12 micrometers.

The ophthalmic chin-lift is light-weight, easy to use and does not interfere with the surgical field. |

ROUSSEAU OPHTHALMIC CHIN LIFT
Rhein Medical
Maintaining the proper patient position during surgery is key to both the flow and outcome of ophthalmic procedures. Not every patient is able to maintain position on their own, and slight movements can compromise the procedure, or necessitate discontinuing treatment to reposition the patient. The Rousseau Ophthalmic Chin Lift, developed in coordination with Paul B. Rousseau, eliminates the "drifting" that occurs during surgery, allowing the surgeon to maintain patient positioning, ensure accuracy and achieve intended results.
The ophthalmic chin lift is fully adjustable to accommodate all patients. Features include a telescoping arm and adjustable, padded over-the-shoulder harness. The shoulder harness is made of a malleable material that allows contouring to any patient. Use it for refractive, cataract retinal, or any ophthalmic procedure to ensure accuracy.
