Eyemaginations'
3D-Eye Office
A multi-media
program used to educate and market to patients.
Patient education is one of the most time consuming and repetitive aspects in the provision of health care services. It is also one of the most important," says Randale C. Sechrest, M.D., of the Medical Multimedia Group in Missoula, Mont.
Eyemaginations, Inc. understands the importance of patient education and is a leader in patient education and marketing. Their 3D-Eye Office is the industry's only three-dimensional animated communication platform that provides a full library of eye-related animations driven by a PC-based software system. The system helps to create a general awareness of products and services offered within an eye care practice by grouping videos into "Playlists." The selected Playlists help patients make informed eye care decisions based on explanations of how and why procedures and services are actually performed within the practice.
How It Works
3D-Eye Office delivers 3D-animated communications geared directly to the patient. The program provides clear and concise product information that can run in virtually any area of a practice:
A At the dispensary to give patients a first-hand perspective on lens options and benefits. "We use 3D-Eye Office on the optical side of our practice to teach patients how to insert and remove contact lenses," says Richard Edlow, O.D., chief operating officer of the Katzen Eye Group in Towson, Md. "The animated videos are available at each of our dispensing tables and provide clear and concise information. Our sales and patient education process is streamlined, cutting our training time by 50%."
A In the exam room as a "virtual babysitter" for patient education. "We use Eyemaginations in every exam room," says Walter Holland, M.D., president of Iredell Eye Center, in Statesville, NC. "We use the short video/audio clips to educate patients about eye pathology, as well as help explain surgical procedures."
"We have a computer station in each exam room and will select four different cataract loops for a Playlist. The loop is 6 to 8 minutes long and patients may watch the animations while waiting for their doctor," says Dr. Edlow. "We also use this as part of our informed consent. Once a patient has viewed the loop, it appears in their electronic medical records and provides us with one more level of protection."
A In the waiting area, as a looping display. The software runs on a continuous loop and provides detailed, visually interesting information to the patient, freeing the staff to attend to patient's needs.
A Virtually anywhere, as an in-house marketing vehicle.
With just an additional download process to a system folder, users may run personal
or product-
driven commercials at no additional cost. Eyemaginations has permission
from vendors to run product infomercials and vendors are enthusiastic about the
extra visibility.
"The flexibility of the system cannot be underestimated. You can customize a presentation by inserting your practice's digital ads into a loop; for example in a "back to school" promotion [you can] insert an eye care company's product information," says Dr. Edlow. "We include loops on ReSTOR (Alcon, Fort Worth, Texas) and ReZoom (Advanced Medical Optics [AMO], Santa Ana, Calif.) in our waiting room in order to educate patients on multifocal IOLs."
3D-Eye Office Features Include:
- 170 full-feature 3D animations on subjects such as ocular anatomy,
refractive errors, ocular pathology, clinical procedures, dispensing and contact
lenses
and more approximately 200 animations will be made available with
the next version of the
software.
- Interactive HeyeLites, a program that displays pictures of a patient's eye and shows results in a 3-D format. The program also has a sketch pad function for interacting with the image.
- Hundreds of images for drawing, printing and saving documented patient explanations.
- Custom media from your favorite manufacturers for personalizing presentations with commercials, pictures and music.
- Ability to communicate in English, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese and German.
- Ophthalmic lens tracking for usage and profitability monitoring on refractive IOLs.
The Benefits to Your Practice Include:
- Educating patients in a clear and consistent way. The 3D-Eye Office HeyeLites program allows you to walk your patient through an explanation in seconds. And the creation of 60-80 new animations developed each year will ensure that your patient's are getting the most up-to-date eye care information available.
- Gaining and retaining patients. With the additional information gained by watching the 3D-Eye Office programs, patients will leave the office feeling more confident in their understanding of a diagnosis and the purchasing options available to them.
- Increasing revenue. With 3D-Eye Office you are able to offer different options to your patients quickly and visually. For example, your optical dispensary may see additional revenue because your staff no longer makes the choice to offer the premium lens or add-ons; every patient is presented merchandise options equally.
- Predictions and forecasts. The 3D-Eye Office software will also track and record the number of times a consistent presentation is made to a patient. This allows you to make predictions and forecast the number of presentations necessary to get to that next premium sale.
- Customization. Eye care professionals are able to customize their patient's 3D experience by adding commercials, personalized video, appointment reminders and new techniques offered by the practice.
