The Latest Data on Staff Benefits and Salary Reviews
Nonprovider personnel cost continues to be the highest expense item for most ophthalmology practices, often comprising more than 65% of total practice overhead.
The 2005 Staff Salary Survey, published by The Health Care Group in Plymouth Meeting, Pa., provides hard data to compare and structure your staff's compensation and benefits. The survey is organized by staff position, geographic region, and Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). For each position, a region-by-region survey is provided first, followed by data divided according to MSA comprising various regions of the country.
The June 2005 Stat Tracker shows the national compensation averages for ophthalmology practices as reported in the 2005 Staff Salary Survey. At right are the national averages for employee benefits and salary reviews as reported by all medical practices in the 2005 Staff Salary Survey.
About this data: The information, statistics and national averages in this installment of Stat Tracker were drawn from The Health Care Group's 2005 Staff Salary Survey. In the fourth quarter of 2004, questionnaires were mailed to more than 9,000 medical practices nationwide and 757 practices responded, including 119 ophthalmology practices. The complete 2005 Staff Salary Survey contains more staff categories and additional results, summarizes data from all respondents to the survey, and is organized by staff position and geographic region.
