The Latest Data on Staff Benefits and Salary Reviews
Nonprovider personnel costs continue to be the highest expense item for most ophthalmology practices, often comprising more than 65% of total practice overhead.
The 2003 Staff Salary Survey, published by The Health Care Group in Plymouth Meeting, Pa., provides you with hard data to compare and structure your staff's compensation and benefits. The survey is organized by staff position, geographic region and ZIP code. For each position, a region-by-region survey is provided first, followed by data divided according to ZIP codes comprising various regions of the country.
February 2003 Stat Tracker showed the national compensation averages for all medical practices as reported in the 2003 Staff Salary Survey. At right are the national averages for benefits and employee salary reviews as reported in the 2003 Staff Salary Survey.
About this data: The information, statistics and national averages in this installment of Stat Tracker were drawn from The Health Care Group's 2003 Staff Salary Survey. In the fourth quarter of 2002, questionnaires were mailed to almost 8,800 medical practices nationwide and about 1,100 practices responded, including 146 ophthalmology practices. The complete 2003 Staff Salary Survey contains more staff categories and additional results, summarizes data from all respondents to the survey, and is organized by staff position and geographic region.
