LADARVISION4000
Alcon
The LADARVision4000 features a flying small-spot 0.8-mm Gaussian beam that
treats lower- and higher-order aberrations.
The LADARVision4000 is the first system to receive FDA approval for performing wavefront-guided custom LASIK. The system has received clearance to treat myopia from -0.75D to -7.00D and less than .5D of astigmatism.

ASTRASCAN
LaserSight
The AstraScan Custom Laser System features a 0.5-mm Gaussian flying spot beam and an eye tracker that requires no dilation.
The AstraScan is available for international use only; clinical trials are underway in Norway. Data shows that at 3 months post-op, 20/15 uncorrected visual acuity was achieved in 100% of 18 eyes using custom ablation and only 56% of eyes using standard ablation.

ALLEGRETTO
WAVE
Lumenis
The Allegretto Wave excimer laser has a pulse rate of 200 Hz and a small spot diameter of 0.95 mm for customized ablations.
The Allegretto also features an active 250 Hz eye tracker, which "ensures excellent centration and accurate placement of each shot, even in cases of rapid, saccadic eye movements."
Currently, the Allegretto is limited to investigational use in the United States. Lumenis is awaiting marketing approval from the FDA.

STAR
S4
VISX
The STAR S4 features Variable Spot Scanning (VSS), which adjusts beam size from 0.65 mm to 6.5 mm. This conserves tissue and shortens treatment times compared with a fixed small spot laser.
To reduce decentered ablations, the STAR S4 pauses if the patient's eye moves 1.5 mm in any direction from the established center point. The laser only resumes ablation after the eye has returned to within acceptable limits.

LASIK SPECULUM
The Steinert II LASIK Speculum has a blade configuration that matches the diameter of suction rings, allowing maximum exposure in patients with tight orbits. The anterior surface of the blades has cutouts on both ends, letting the surgeon slide or rotate the microkeratome to make a full pass without bumping into the speculum blades.
The speculum is available in two models: aspirating and non-aspirating.

LOW
VISION AID
Eschenbach is touting its Noves eyewear as the world's first ophthalmic lens
based on multi-order diffraction (MOD).
Noves offers low vision users between 12 and 20 diopters of power from a MOD hybrid lens that's no more than 5-mm thick at the thickest point. That's 50% thinner than ordinary spectacle magnifiers, according to Eschenbach.
