The Latest Data on the Value of Goodwill
Goodwill value is frequently the most significant part of an ophthalmology practice's worth. The accompanying information, drawn from The Health Care Group's 2002 Goodwill Registry, confirms that ophthalmology goodwill is still quite viable and that ophthalmology practices are one of the most, if not the most, valuable of all the medical specialties.
About this data: The data for this month's installment of Stat Tracker were drawn from The Health Care Group's 2002 Goodwill Registry, which reports actual transactions involving the intangible value of ophthalmology and other medical and dental practices. Data from the Goodwill Registry has been used in litigation proceedings to help resolve valuation issues. The Goodwill Registry for 2002 contains more than 3,500 reports (including more than 200 for ophthalmology practices) from transactions submitted to The Health Care Group by participating healthcare advisors, consultants and practices from 1991 to 2002.
The complete 2002 Goodwill Registry also reports detailed data for each transaction, including state, reason for valuation, valuation method, gross revenue, and overhead percent. For more information about the 2002 report, call Mark E. Kropiewnicki, J.D., LL.M at (800) 473-0032.
