The Latest Data on HMO Enrollment
InterStudy Publications, the researcher and publisher of data, directories and analyses of the HMO and PPO industries, recently released its latest information on HMO enrollment.
According to InterStudy, total nationwide HMO enrollment continues to decline, but the rate of decline appears to be slowing. From July 2000 to July 2001 total enrollment decreased by 1.1%. HMO Medicare enrollment also declined, by 6.6%, from July 1, 2000 to July 1, 2001. But HMO Medicaid enrollment continued to grow: 8.6% from July 2000 to July 2001.

InterStudy's Tammy Lauer said the withdrawal of HMOs and Medicare HMOs from more markets will likely force physicians to contract with other managed care entities, such as PPOs. |
