LASIK ENHANCEMENT TOOLS
Rhein Medical, in coordination with Michael Anthony Trujillo, COT, COSA, is introducing three laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) enhancement instruments:
- The Trujillo LASIK Enhance-ment Hook, which locates and raises an area of the flap margin at the slit lamp in preparation for LASIK.

The Sloane Micro-Hoe (top) and the Sloane Epi-Peeler (bottom) are new from Katena. |
|
Katena Products and Herman Sloane, M.D., have developed two instruments for laser subepithelial keratectomy (LASEK): the Sloane Micro-Hoe and the Sloane Epi-Peeler.
The Micro-Hoe features a semicircular tip with a beveled edge; it's designed to lift the precut edge of the epithelial flap. Afterwards, you can use the Epi-Peeler to peel and roll back the remaining portion of the flap. The Epi-Peeler has a 1 x 5-mm tip with semi-sharp edges on both its narrow and broad contact surfaces.
You can purchase the Micro-Hoe and Epi-Peeler separately, or together in the form of a combined instrument with the Micro-Hoe on one end of the handle and the Epi-Peeler on the other end.

Tomey's TL-100 AutoLensmeter can read RGP and orthokeratology contact lenses. |
AUTOLENSMETER
The Tomey Corporation has introduced the TL-100 AutoLensmeter, which the company says offers all the features of an autolensmeter, but at the price of a manual lensmeter. The TL-100 features automatic hold and prism measurement; it allows you to read RGP or orthokeratology contact lenses.
The TL-100 detects progressive lenses immediately. In addition, once you place the lenses in the unit, finding and holding the optical center or add is elementary. You simply align a crosshair on a target display and listen for a beep.
