AXIS MARKER
The new Phillips Gravity Axis Marker from Rhein Medical, designed to be used at the slip lamp while the patient is sitting up, features a pivotal gravity mechanism to prevent your technician's hand position from affecting the orientation of the marks.
|
|
Rhein Medical says that its Phillips Gravity Axis Marker is ballast-weighted to provide consistency and reproducibility -- even in retreatment cases. |
|
According to Rhein Medical, the unique ballast weight ensures that the marks applied to the 0 and 180 axis on the cornea will be perfectly level.

NEW IOL
The FDA has granted approval of Pharmacia's CeeOn Edge 911A intraocular lens (IOL).
In clinical trials, the foldable CeeOn Edge exhibited optical clarity while registering a low incidence of posterior capsule opacification (PCO). A 1-year follow-up of 222 European patients implanted with the CeeOn Edge found that only 0.9% of patients required surgical interventions or Nd:YAG laser treatment to address postsurgical PCO.
Pharmacia attributes the low incidence of PCO to the squared-edge design of the CeeOn Edge. The square edges prevent cells from traveling to the posterior capsule and accumulating on the lens surface.

WAVEFRONT APPROVAL
The FDA has granted 501(k) clearance for Nidek's refractive map system, the Optical Path Difference (OPD)-Scan. The system combines dynamic skiascopy technology and Placido disk corneal topography to create refractive power maps that show optical system aberrations in your patient's eyes.
The OPD-Scan produces diagnostic image maps that feature high resolution, a wide measurement range and a common axis of measurement for optical aberrations and corneal topography. The OPD-Scan also incorporates auto refraction, allowing simultaneous data acquisition for all measurements in both axis and timeline.
