AJO
The American Journal of Ophthalmology (AJO) has upgraded its Web site.
At www.ajo.com, each article contains links to reference sources and Medline abstracts. Prominent articles contain materials not found in the print version and offer the opportunity to contact authors and join online discussions.
Plus, the AJO site features an advanced search engine that lets you access the latest ophthalmological news and research by tracking down topics by keyword, author or title.
The AJO site is free for subscribers to the print version. Nonsubscribers have limited access.
Healinx
A new Web site is on the server. Its name? Healinx. Its aim? To provide secure, clinically structured and auditable communication between you and your patients.
For example, with Healinx, you can issue electronic prescriptions over the Web, reducing the need for paper and telephone prescriptions.
Instead of e-mail, Healinx uses secure messaging. The service is a closed circle of users, so messages can't be sent to arbitrary recipients. No one can read your messages except you, your staff and your patient. This past fall, Healinx was given CareStandard Select Certified status. CareStandard Select status is a third-party rating developed by CareScience Inc. to evaluate health information technologies based on industry and federally established criteria.
