The Lighthouse International Web site is a leading resource for information on vision impairment and vision rehabilitation. This nonprofit organization's site covers timely issues of interest to those with impaired vision and their families -- for example, the need for more large-print publications. The site also offers brochures, publications, information on low-vision seminars and two catalogs of low-vision aids -- one for patients and the other for eyecare professionals -- that you can order online.

Sponsored by Low Vision Centers of Indiana, an award-winning optometric practice that specializes in vision rehabilitation, this comprehensive and informative Web site offers a wide range of resources that can be called upon for dealing with low-vision problems. In addition to providing basic information about the varying causes of low vision, the site lists the major manufacturers of low-vision aids and their products, and features a directory of low-vision specialists (by state).

Low Vision Council
This patient-oriented Web site was created by practitioners, educators, manufacturers, associations and agencies involved in assisting people with low-vision problems. It features a listing of about 20 support groups for individuals who have low vision related to AMD, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and other causes.
