Eric Donnenfeld, M.D., and Robert
Snyder, M.D. say that while endophthalmitis is rare, it can be devastating and
cost a patient his eyesight. However, with current therapy, you can limit or
prevent the damage entirely. The authors recommend that you use fluoroquinolone
antibiotics such as ofloxacin (Ocuflox), which is much more effective than
traditional treatments such as dexamathasone (TobraDex) and vancomycin.
