The FDA has approved Alamast (pemirolast potassium 1%), a new ocular allergy eyedrop manufactured by Santen Pharmaceutical Company located in Osaka, Japan.

Alamast is indicated for preventing itching due to allergic conjunctivitis. Santen Pharmaceutical Company, which markets both prescription and over-the-counter treatments for eye and rheumatic diseases, plans to have its United States subsidiary launch Alamast in 2000.
