The American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) recently published a pamphlet answering millennium bug questions. Here are some of their recommendations:

• Test all critical equipment.
• Check the credentials of any Y2K computer consultants you employ.
• Prioritize all of your equipment needs and fill all appropriate non-compliant equipment.
• Develop contingency plans.
• Educate your staff on Y2K issues.
• Document all aspects of your preparation to demonstrate "diligence."
• If you purchase equipment, review the contract to ensure appropriate Y2K compliance language.
