Thea US announced in a press release that Zolymbus (bimatoprost ophthalmic gel) 0.01%, a new preservative-free gel formulation for glaucoma management, is set to launch in the United States. The prostaglandin analog is indicated for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
The patented mucoadhesive lubricating gel technology is designed to increase contact time on the ocular surface to support penetration and drug delivery without benzalkonium chloride (BAK).
According to the company, Zolymbus was formulated with a focus on efficacy, tolerability, safety, and convenience, and to support long-term treatment adherence.
