Coinciding with May’s inherited retinal disease (IRD) Genetic Testing Awareness Month, Prevent Blindness created new educational materials on Stargardt disease. Among the resources offered are a dedicated webpage, fact sheets, a new Focus on Eye Health Expert Series episode and social media graphics. The effort is supported by funding from Alkeus Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

As part of its Focus on Eye Health Expert Series, Prevent Blindness is featuring a new episode, “Stargardt Disease,” with Elias Traboulsi, MD, MEd, pediatric ophthalmologist and geneticist, Department of Ophthalmology, Cleveland Clinic.

In addition, information on IRD and genetic testing for vision issues can be found at its website. Foundation Fighting Blindness is also providing information on IRDs and the benefits of genetic testing. 

Alkeus Pharmaceuticals offers another resource that is designed for people living with Stargardt disease, their families and care partners: “Your North Starg.”
