INFINITI VISION SYSTEM UPGRADES
Alcon’s Infiniti System upgrade is centered on the inclusion of a new, automated IOL injector. The Intrepid AutoSert IOL Injector is designed for improved control during cataract surgery. Also included in the upgrade is the ability to customize parameters for enhanced insertion control, a foot pedal control, support for all standard incision sizes, including micro-incisions, and improved wound integrity aimed at minimizing disruption and trauma.

EYE CHECK
1 The Eye Check from Volk Ophthalmics is a handheld, portable ocular measurement device designed to aid in the diagnosis of ophthalmic abnormalities. The multi-functional device is capable of measuring pupil diameter, horizontal visible iris diameter, interpupillary distance, margin reflex distance, pupil eccentricity and strabismus angle. Its real-time results can be fed directly into EHR systems over Wi-Fi.

EYEFFICIENT UNIVERSAL SMARTPHONE ADAPTER
2 A new smartphone adapter from Eyefficient is designed to enable smartphones to be mounted onto a slit lamp to take high-quality images that can be shared with patients or colleagues, or transmitted to EHR instantly. The adapter fits smartphones from 2- to 3.5-inches wide and attaches to slit lamp eyepieces from 1- to 1.8-inches in diameter.

RAYSERT PLUS MINI-INCISION INJECTOR
From Rayner Intraocular Lenses comes an injector designed for implantations through a 2.2-mm wound assisted mini-inclusion, reducing the level of surgical induced astigmatism according to the company. The RaySert Plus Mini-incision Injector is FDA-approved for the delivery of the C-flex Aspheric and Superflex Aspheric range of Rayner IOLs.

DIOPSYS REPORT VIEWER
A new tablet app by Diopsys allows ophthalmologists to view electrophysiology reports from anywhere in the office using a Wi-Fi connection. It also sends alerts of new reports to tablets. The on-the-move delivery app is designed to streamline patient flow and prepare the doctor for patient evaluation before even entering the exam room. It also allows doctors to switch back and forth between other work on the doctor’s tablet. The app is available to all Diopsys NOVA-VEP and NOVA-ERG customers.

SONOMED ESCALON VUPAD
3 The newly FDA-approved tablet-based Sonomed Escalon Vupad ultrasound imaging system from Escalon Medical Corp. combines UBM and newly enhanced B-scan image quality with an ultra-high-resolution screen. The “enhanced focused rendering” of the device enables image and video capture. The Vupad is controlled by a touch-screen interface.

■ Konan Medical USA has acquired the rights to internationally market EvokeDx, Neucodia’s enhanced visual electrophysiological technology for assessment of visual pathway disorders.
■ Leica Microsystems and TrueVision 3D Surgical Microscopes have expanded their alliance to fuse 3D technology into Leica Microsystems entire line of ophthalmic microscopes.
■ Haag-Streit USA has announced its ophthalmic surgical microscope can now be used with the Lenstar LS 900 Biometer. This integration means data can now be transferred electronically, giving the surgeon a high-resolution image of the eye with overlays of pertinent data, assisting in locating landmarks and ensuring IOL alignment, according to Haag-Streit USA.
SILICOLN SET-UP EYES
4 Gulden has added to its collection of training tools with its new Silicone Set-up Eyes. The silicone replicas are designed to mimic the appearance and feel of the human eye and can be used for equipment setup. They are constructed of prosthetic silicone, are pliable to the touch and are designed to maintain their shape and color over time.

M&S SMART SYSTEM 20/20 SOFTWARE UPDATE
5 M&S Technologies has added, among other new features, stereo testing at near to its Smart System Tablet. The user-interactive screening allows doctors to test for stereopsis by having the patient touch the image on the tablet they believe is displaying stereo image.
Other tests included in the 2014 update include the ColorCheck color test, dynamic fixation disparity, the Harris Contract Sensitivity and Visual Acuity Test and the Richer Glare Test.
