NEW PRODUCT REPORT
1. TRULIGN TORIC IOL
Bausch + Lomb’s new Trulign toric IOL corrects for astigmatism and has the capacity to deliver improved vision across a natural range of focus, the company says. The IOL is designed for primary implantation in the capsular bag for the correction of aphakia and refractive astigmatism following cataract removal in both patients with and without presbyopia. According to the company, the haptic design provides rotational stability.

2. INCISE IOL
The new micro-incision Incise IOL, from Bausch + Lomb, is an enhanced acrylic IOL that assists in the surgeon’s ability to perform cataract surgery with an incision smaller than 2 mm. This can be accomplished when combining the Incise IOL with the Stellaris Vision Enhancement System and the single-use Incise Viscojet Bioinjector to allow for a 1.8 mm in-the-bag and 1.4 mm woundassist implantation. The IOL itself is designed to minimize posterior capsule opacification and has a 360° barrier edge.

6. VISIOMETRICS HD ANALYZER
This new diagnostics system, from Visiometrics objectively analyzes optical quality by providing a measure of light scatter. Wavefront aberrometry devices cannot measure light scatter, which can result from corneal disease, variations in the refractive index or imperfections on the ocular surface. The HD analyzer can also help diagnose and monitor the progression of pathologies or tear film quality changes over time. It can also mark an increase in the level of light scatter for the early detection of cataracts and compare pre- and post-cataract and refractive surgery measurements.
Employing double-pass retinal imaging, the HD analyzer uses a punctual light source that is imaged on the retina. The side and shape of the light are analyzed to determine higher order aberrations and scattered light.

7. NEXTGEN NEXTPEN
The NextPen is a digital pen device designed to pair up with NextGen practice management software. The NextPen eliminates the need to scan and transcribe records because it instantly captures data using a tiny camera in the pen tip and storing it within the pen itself. Then, the pen can be used in a manner similar to a flash drive to upload the data to NextGen’s EHR software. Use of the NextPen essentially renders the paper a temporary storage while the pen itself stores the record.
