You should always supply the prescription if the patient asks for it, advises Dr. Robert Cykiert, but make sure to indicate the date of the last eye exam and that you found that the contact lenses are right for the patient. Advise the patient that hell need at least an annual follow-up exam. This reduces your medicolegal risk if the mail order company should fill the prescription after its expired.
